The word “sozo” \sode'-zo\ denotes salvation and healing in the most holistic sense - physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

Rather than isolating symptoms, natural medicine aims to view and treat each person holistically, not only in the sense of the physical body, but also at the level of the soul and everything else that makes every individual who God created him or her to be; and the wellness of those attributes effects all the other parts, including the physical body. A truly healthy person is whole in the sense that sozo communicates.

Roots are earthy, messy, and fundamental to the existence of the creation which flourishes or languishes from them - like the human heart.

Rather than suppressing outward
symptoms, natural medicine searches for underlying causes and seeks to address them from the “root”

so that the symptoms can resolve themselves.  Additionally, many of nature’s medicines, like essential oils, come from plants,

which are nourished from the root.

The image of a dirty root, in all it’s frailty and imperfection, juxtaposed against a concept of all-encompassing restoration is a beautiful symbol of us and our Creator God - the Rescuer, the Healer, the One who’s grace is sufficient, and who’s power is perfect in our weakness.

The meaning

Holistic Wellness information and support

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
    whose trust is the Lord.
He is like a tree planted by water,
that sends out its roots by the stream,
and does not fear when heat comes,
    for its leaves remain green,
and is not anxious in the year of drought,
for it does not cease to bear fruit.”

Jeremiah 17:7-8 (ESV)
